SEPTEMBER 28TH 2018
We’re all set to welcome the return of our free literary weekend, Ness Book Fest (4-7 October 2018). Now in its third year, the annual celebration of all things books kicks off on Thursday with three authors talking about their works including Donald Murray, Polly Clark and Malachy Tallack. A number of other writers are part of the programme such as multiple award-winning Inverness born author Ali Smith, renowned comic book artist Frank Quitely and crime writer Stuart MacBride.
Ness Book Fest will take place in the centre of Inverness, so not far from Ardconnel Court apartments. There are a number of the venues within walking distance such as Central Library, the Town Hall, local schools, and Waterstones Inverness. Most events are ticketed but free of charge to attend. Each event will last an hour or so, with ongoing children’s activities.
If you’re a real bookworm, it’s absolutely worth visiting Leakey’s Book Shop. Leakey’s Bookshop was established in 1979 and has been housed for the last 20 years in the old Gaelic Church (1793). It is Scotland’s largest secondhand bookshop with 100,000 selected volumes.
